Your oncologist leads your cancer care. Together, we support the person behind the diagnosis.
Evidence-informed naturopathic care, shaped by your diagnosis, your treatment plan, your medications and your lab results. It is designed to work alongside your oncology team, not instead of it.
-
A new diagnosis brings a lot of decisions in a short time. Before treatment begins, I review your diagnosis, your proposed treatment plan, your current medications and supplements, and your recent lab work. You leave with a clear picture of what may help, what may need to wait, and what is best avoided during treatment. Supplement and medication interactions are checked before anything is started.
-
Chemotherapy can affect your energy, digestion, sleep, appetite, nerves and mood. Support is timed around your treatment schedule and may include nutrition and digestive support, strategies for fatigue and sleep, and attention to neuropathy and other treatment-related symptoms. Some supplements may interfere with certain chemotherapy drugs, so each one is reviewed against your specific protocol and adjusted as your treatment changes.
-
Radiation can bring skin changes, fatigue, digestive symptoms and slower recovery, depending on the area treated. Care may include nutrition, skin and tissue support, and recovery planning, all coordinated with your radiation schedule.
-
With your permission, relevant information can be shared with your oncology team so your care stays coordinated.
-
Naturopathic support may help with how you feel during and after treatment. It is not a treatment for cancer and does not replace the care you receive from your oncologist.
-
You may not be sure you want a naturopathic support program. You may simply want to know what options exist for the side effects of your treatment. That is a reasonable place to start. Side effects vary with your diagnosis, your treatment and your overall health. Common concerns include nausea, changes in appetite and taste, mouth sores, digestive changes, fatigue, sleep problems, tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, skin changes, difficulty concentrating, and low mood. Options that may help include nutrition and digestive support, sleep strategies, targeted supplements chosen to avoid interactions with your treatment, and skin and tissue care. What is appropriate depends on your protocol, so any option is reviewed against your treatment plan first. A consultation can focus only on the side effects you are dealing with. Fever or any severe or rapidly worsening symptom should be reported to your oncology team or urgent care right away.
